Here’s how we see it: Manufacturing built America, and laborers were highly valued. Then, America simultaneously outsourced manufacturing and shifted greater value to tech and service jobs. Now, outsourcing manufacturing is becoming less profitable, and customers are more interested than ever in knowing where and how their products are made.
Let’s usher in a resurgence of American manufacturing.
Located in Indianapolis, Indiana, our factory is where we make every Howl + Hide product. We employ between 6 and 9 people at a time, own all our machinery, and pay everyone over double the minimum wage (fun fact: that’s 8 times more than what Indonesian laborers are typically paid). Our factory is just 4 miles down the road from our retail store and headquarters. That’s what we call, keeping it in the family.
We take pride in owning our space and equipment, which allows us to meticulously train all of our employees. This ensures the production of high-quality goods with consistency and reliability.
We utilize scrap leather in unique + custom pieces, often for sale at special events. And any scrap we truly cannot use, we donate to 501c3 organizations for use in art programs.
We educate and train our employees utilizing both traditional and modern leather-working techniques. And pay over double minimum wage.
